A native of central Ohio, Joel Riley began his career in radio in 1983. He continues today as the morning show host on Columbus’ News/Weather/Traffic/Sports station, 610 WTVN. Joel listened to 610 WTVN with his dad growing up, and loved how hosts brought stories and sports action to life. A radio class in high school and a college career heavy with mic time, Joel always had his sights set on WTVN. Almost 20 years ago, he started as a three hour a week part timer with WTVN and kept adding responsibilities when possible. Joel has hosted the evening show, the 9-noon slot and now hits the air at 5:35a. “Working with Ken Stevens (morning news anchor), Sports Director Matt McCoy and producer ‘TV’ Tom Schmid makes coming to work easy… I love being a part of the strongest information team in the state,” Joel states enthusiastically. “We talk Columbus every day and bring listeners up to date on traffic and weather every ten minutes, too.” Joel welcomes feedback via e-mail and Facebook, especially when listeners see big events.”
“610WTVN has always been the place where Columbus people congregate for the biggest news stories and I’m happy to facilitate that conversation in the morning,” says Joel. “What I love about talk radio in general and this station specifically is that listeners really react to what is said, they’re really plugged in. That keeps us on our toes and is ultimately great for our advertisers. When people are active listeners, it benefits us all.”
