is a San Antonio radio veteran who has continually been named one of the Top 3 most recognizable names in local radio. He adds a South Texas outlook to his talk show, “San Antonio’s First News,” in the mornings on WOAI.
Charlie started his radio career in 1975 and has been with Clear Channel Radio at both WOAI and its sister Sports station, KTKR, since 1991. He was the first host for the first Sports Talk show in the city, and his experience includes hosting weekly Houston Oilers shows with Head Coach Jeff Fisher as well as Dallas Cowboys shows with former Special Teams Coach and good friend Joe Avezzano and former Cowboy Preston Pearson. Now at WOAI, Charlie considers himself politically to be a “radically pragmatic independent.” He served in the US Air Force and says his biggest challenge in radio was “finding the moxy to deliver a live broadcast at Ground Zero on the first anniversary of 9/11.” He is a voracious reader and a huge fan of the San Antonio Spurs, Dallas Cowboys and Alabama Crimson Tide.
In 2010, Charlie’s show was recognized by the San Antonio Express News: “San Antonio’s First News” with Charlie Parker was the Critics’ Choice Award for Best Local Radio Personality/Team.
